Vocational Service
Vocational Service, the Second Avenue of Service, promotes high ethical standards in
businesses and professions, recognizes the worthiness of all dignified occupations,
and fosters the ideal of service in the pursuit of all vocations. The role of members
includes conducting themselves and their businesses in accordance with Rotary’s
principles.

When professionals join a Rotary club, they do so as a representative of their
particular business or profession.

Rotarians have the dual responsibility of representing their vocation within the club
and exemplifying the ideals of Rotary within the workplace.

Every October, Rotarians are encouraged to focus their attention on Vocational
Service. Clubs celebrate with a variety of activities ranging from discussions about
business ethics to awards to community projects. It is also an opportunity to begin
year-long Vocational Service activities.

    Vocational Service opportunities include:

Career Day at Pontiac William-Holiday Jr. High & Grant Middle School
Scholarships for incoming Freshmen students at SWIC (in the near future)
Student of the Month Award
Annual Teacher Leadership Award
Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)
